The Don Republic Cossack Government (not to be confused with the Kuban Territory Cossack Government, also in South Russia) was proclaimed on 10 January 1918.

General Deniken recognised the government as a valid independent territory, and it remained more or less in place until his army was forced to evacuate Rostov-on-Don on 23 February 1920.

A number of valid and postally used stamps were issued during this time period.  Scott lists these issues in a separate country entry for "South Russia" (stamps numbered 1-10).  SG and Michel both have a section.
