Reference Library and Links

This entire website is dedicated to helping you and your interest in Russian philately.

In addition to the obvious sources of information in the main parts of the website itself (directly accessible from the home page), here are some supplementary sources of data.

Lastly, if you came here looking for something and can't find the answer you seek, please let me know.  If there is sufficient interest, I'll be pleased to add new sections to the website to make it more useful for more visitors.

Site Full Text Search Engine
This searches every word on (almost) every one of the 320+ pages of this web site to find what you are looking for.  Very useful.

Note that it does not search the databases that create the variable content on some of the pages such as the Links and Glossary and Journal Article pages.  We hope to add this functionality in the future.  :)

Glossary
This has a lot of Russian and philatelic terms defined, and if you can't find the definition you want, I'll be pleased to try and add it for you.
Journal Article Database
One of our most ambitious projects to date.  A massive resource with thousands of indexed records to articles that have appeared in Russian philatelic journals from 1931 to the present day.
Today in History
Choose any day of the year and be advised of relevant events on that date in history.  This is the same routine that shows you today's information on our home page, but allows you to select any date of your choosing.
Web Links
A listing of various other web sites sorted by topic.
World Society of Russian Philately
This website deserves a separate listing.  Membership (which is only $10) gets you access to over 2000 pages of information about Russian philately and over 10,000 images (kind of makes this site look small and puny by comparison!).  There are also quite a few public parts of the site for everyone to access, including fairly active message boards and display rooms.

An active and helpful membership keep a series of discussions going.

If you're at all interested in collecting Russian stamps and related material, I urge you to join this very worthwhile group.

Philatelic Research Links
Provides some information on how to find information elsewhere on the internet and some starting points to surf out from.
Postal Tariffs
A series of tables detailing the main postal rates in effect in Russia/Soviet Union.
Are Russian New Issues Philatelically Valid?
An interesting and possibly heretical article with some surprising conclusions.
Scanning Stamps
Discusses how to choose a scanner, and then how to best use it for scanning stamps.
Exporting Stamps from Russia
An interesting 'how to' about something that is actually very difficult to do.
